Lathika (Malayalam: ലതിക) is an Indian playback vocalist whose voice held influence over the music graphs in the last part of the 1980s-mid 1990s in the Malayalam entertainment world. She has loaned her voice predominantly for Malayalam and Tamil film tunes for north of 300 movies. A portion of her hit tunes of that time are ‘Kathodu Kathoram… ‘ and ‘Devadoothar Padi… ‘(Kathodu Kathoram), ‘Crap Venam Pooppada Venam…’ (Oru Minnaminunginte Nurunguvettam), and ‘Tharum Thalirum…’ (Chilambu).
Lathika appeared at 16 years old with the scene “Pushpathalpathin..” made by Kannur Rajan for I. V. Sasi’s ‘Abhinandam’ (1976). She sang the two part harmony with K. J. According to yesudas, who, she, has forever been her tutor. Then her turn came for the music creation of ‘Ithiri Poove Chuvanna Poove’ (1984) when they required a female craftsman to murmur a pallavi. In those days S. Janaki was the prevailing tune sovereign and such a senior craftsman couldn’t be gotten exclusively to murmur a couple of lines. That is when Raveendran proposed her name. All through her profession, Lathika has had a few melodies credited to different vocalists, particularly K.S. Chitra, by well known media and people. As of August 2016, her most recent version for a film is for a 2016 Malayalam film Guppy in which she sang the tune “Athiraliyum karakaviyum” alongside Vijay Yesudas.
Currently she is serving as lecturer in music at the Swathi Thirunal College of Music, Thiruvananthapuram. She has been promoted as Asst. Professor and serving the same college.
